How to refer a patient

The members of the Department of Urology at Boston Children's Hospital are available to answer questions.

  • If you have a question about a patient referral, call 617-355-7796 and choose option 1 to speak to one of our clinicians.
  • Choose option 2 to refer a patient or schedule an appointment for your patient.
  • Fax pertinent patient medical records to the Department of Urology, including medical notes and test results, at 617-730-0474.
  • Our clinicians take great pride in ensuring seamless communication with you, the referring provider. We do this by providing follow-up clinical notes, and our clinicians are accessible by telephone to answer your questions.

Fellowship training

The Alan B. Retik Fellowship Program in Pediatric Urology is a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship, with an optional third research year. The first year is a busy clinical year, during which fellows are exposed to the full spectrum of pediatric urological care. During the second year, fellows can choose from a multitude of research options, including clinical/health services research, basic research, and translational research.

Resident and medical student training

Residents from Boston-area urology training programs rotate through Boston Children's. Third- and fourth-year students at Harvard Medical School, as well as students from across the U.S. and abroad, take part in the hospital's urology elective.

In addition, the department's laboratory offers a research elective to undergraduate students, medical students, and residents from a variety of training programs.
